‘At Wemmers, we are all Food specialists’
Meet Matthias van der Graaf, our fruit juice specialist
“There is a great responsibility attached to transporting fruit juice. As a driver, I am fully aware of this. Of course, every driver wants to ensure that the cargo gets safely from A to B, but when working with foodstuffs it is imperative that you work safely, following the correct procedures.”
“As a driver, you have to be fully familiar with and follow the procedures to the letter when loading and unloading fruit juices. When I started at Wemmers, I received extensive basic training. This teaches you all the hows and whys for following the correct protocol.
Part of the basic training is a HACCP course about safe and responsible handling of foodstuffs. I now regularly follow Code 95 courses to stay-up-to speed on the latest developments and as a refresher of the basic training.”
'As a driver, you have to be fully familiar with and follow the procedures to the letter when loading and unloading fruit juices.’
“Safety and quality are also determined by my vehicle and my driving abilities. I transport juices and concentrates in a modern truck and tank trailer. The tank trailer is fully equipped so that during loading, transporting and unloading the temperature of the fruit juice is constantly monitored. Giving you as a customer the certainty you need that your product is transported in the correct conditions.”
“In addition, our trucks are fully equipped with all sorts of safety and comfort packages. Not just leaving a good impression with our customers, but also a pleasant, comfortable and safe workplace. We also receive regular coaching from our own mentors. They shadow us and, when necessary, provide tips about improving our driving skills. Even Messi has to continue to train, so why should it be different for us? As a professional driver, you have a position of great responsibility on the road. You need to know how to respond in exceptional situations and know your responsibilities and when to take charge.”
