Wemmers talks to Bunge Loders Croklaan
Wemmers Tanktransport spoke to Casper Bakhuis, Bunge Loders Croklaan's Supply Chain Delivery Manager about their partnership.
Bunge Loders Croklaan was originally founded in the Netherlands by Mr Crok in the 1800s. The only product they produced at the time was linseed. Over the years the range was expanded. The company currently specialises in producing an extensive portfolio of plant-based specialty oils and fats. The products are used in a wide range of applications, from chocolate, bakery products and baby food to animal feed and the energy industry.
Innovation and professionalism
Casper Bakhuis has worked at this inspiring company for four years and is part of the Supply Chain Team. As the Supply Chain Delivery Manager he is in charge of three teams, totalling 25 people, who are responsible for both Customer Service and Customer Logistics. In this capacity, he became acquainted with Wemmers Tanktransport.
‘Bunge Loders Croklaan has worked with Wemmers for over 10 years’, Casper says. ‘As all our transport is outsourced, we partner with several carriers for our internal and external product flows. Wemmers is the largest of these transport companies."
Our partnership with Wemmers intensified when Bunge Loders Croklaan decided to further innovate and professionalise its internal logistics. ‘We already had a kind of preload system in place, but we collaborated with Wemmers Tanktransport to improve the concept. This has resulted in a reduction of the waiting times for drivers, accelerated delivery time to our customers and improved the quality of transport.
‘Together with the team at Wemmers we worked to create solid foundations’, says Casper. The structure was improved and some additional processes were implemented. We concluded joint agreements, and recorded procedures such as administrative actions and physical handling. Consequently , as well as supplying preloaded lorries at our site in Wormerveer, Wemmers has become responsible for arranging onward transport for us. We are in contact daily and meet every fortnight for a multidisciplinary meeting to evaluate any issues and discuss any potential improvements to make our partnership an even greater success'.
