‘We believe working safely is a must in transportation’
Meet Chris Dehaeck, our sweeteners specialist
“As a foodstuffs driver, I am fully aware of the significance of my responsibilities. I transport products that are ultimately ingredients for food and drinks. Every driver fully intends to deliver a load safely to its destination, but when transporting sweeteners, it is extra important that this is done correctly. My colleagues and I are dedicated to ensuring this happens, day in, day out.
“It doesn’t really spring to mind when you are eating a biscuit or sweet, but since I have come to work here, I have become more aware of the ingredients in these products. Many of the products we eat or drink every day contain glucose, fructose and other sweeteners. Sweeteners are used by the pharmaceutical industry too. As a driver, you need to take care in your work to preserve the quality and guarantee food safety. At Wemmers, a lot of time and attention is devoted to this.”
“As a driver, it is essential that you follow the appropriate procedures and work in a structured manner. You receive thorough training when you start work at Wemmers. In the basic training, I learned to work following the appropriate rules and procedures. One of the courses I followed was the HACCP course, in which I learned how to handle foodstuffs. I now regularly follow relevant Code 95 courses to stay up-to-speed on the latest developments. In addition, one of our mentor drivers regularly shadows me for a day to provide me with tips and advice.”

“In addition to your skills as a driver, the equipment you work with is of course also very important. At Wemmers, we drive modern trucks and tank trailers. Our tank trailers can be heated, so that sweeteners can be transported at exactly the requested temperature.
Giving you as a customer the certainty that at Wemmers your product will be transported in the best possible conditions.”
